Founded and led by Nobel laureate and Faculty Director, Professor Michael Kremer, the Development Innovation Lab (DIL) is an affiliate of the Development Economics Center at the University of Chicago. Formally inaugurated in the spring of 2022, DIL brings researchers of various fields together with governments, firms and non-profits to use the tools of economics to identify, test, refine and scale innovations with the potential to benefit millions of people in low- and middle-income countries.
Job Description
DIL is looking to hire multiple Research Assistants (RA) to work on projects in the areas of education, agriculture, health and vaccinations supported by the Lab. The RA will work closely with the research team at DIL to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: conducting literature reviews, checking and analyzing data, cleaning data and assisting in analysis and assisting in the writing of project reports and policy memos. The position hours can range from 5 to 37.5 hours of work per week, depending on the candidate’s availability.

- Literature Research: Assist researchers with literature reviews and systematic searches, drafting such reviews or portions of such reviews.
- Assist in data cleaning and preliminary analysis
- Aid in writing summaries of research projects
- Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks of the lab
- Transcribing/ Note-taking for key meetings with partner organizations
Qualifications

- Currently a student at the University of Chicago
- Pursuing Economics or a related field
- Competence with Microsoft office/ Google doc, sheets etc.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to successfully complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines, as required
- Good communication skills with attention to detail and advanced writing and presentation skills are required
Preferred Qualifications

- Strong technical understanding of economics and econometrics highly desirable
- Familiarity with latex
- Competence with statistical softwares – Stata / R / Python
- Demonstrated interest in Development Economics
- Spatial/remote sensing data experience
